Conversation with Oneself 4' x 4', 4' x 6' - 4' x 10', Acrylic on Canvas, 2016

- CONVERSATION WITH ONESELF

A man - a seated corporate head, questions an empty chair that faces him. The background is of images from an R&D center of an engineering facility.

The chair or 'kursi' is a metaphor for a position, a hierarchy and the pursuit of rising to the next level.

The corporate world is by and large all about the ‘kursi’. Unwittingly, one pursues the ladder of succession. What does it do to one? Can this be one’s only identity?

My painting was influenced by that of artist Zack Zdrale, whose work I admire. I made a similar composition by getting my model, in this case my husband, to pose for my painting.
